Global Studies Program

The Global Studies major is an interdisciplinary academic program designed to develop proficiencies in communicating across cultural difference and thinking critically about our interconnected world. Students take core courses in language, culture, politics, economics, and gender studies, as well as introductory and capstone courses that broaden and deepen their capacity to be engaged global citizens. Service learning and media literacy are integrated throughout a student’s course of study. While students are highly encouraged to study abroad, those who are unable to do so will still participate in an immersion internship experience within the United States. Finally, while research skills are built into the core curriculum, particularly the capstone course, interested students may also elect to conduct significant research within the major as a senior thesis project.
