CHM310 Fundamentals of Biochemistry

Introduction to the major classes of biomolecules: proteins, lipids, nucleic acids and carbohydrates. Study of select biochemical processes with a focus on enzyme-controlled reactions. Topics include: amino acid chemistry, protein structure and function, enzymatic mechanisms, kinetics and regulation, membrane structure and function, biochemical basis of transcription and translation, bioenergetics, glycolysis, citric acid cycle, electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation.
