SPN 257 Global Health Srvce Learnh Abroad--Span

A global health service-learning trip to a country in Latin America (Mexico, Central America, South America or the Caribbean), where students will assist local populations through medical interpretation and other relevant service work. We will develop basic skills of medical interpretation, and study cross-cultural, health-care communication in the context of the intersection between Western and non-Western cultures, whether they be of indigenous American or African descent. Prerequisite: Permission of Instructor and approved study abroad application.
