HIS 222 The Crusades

A historical study of the Crusading movement in Western Europe from approximately 1095 - 1300 CE, focusing on the first four Crusades. We will investigate Christian and Muslim concepts of "holy war", the impact of the Crusading movement on current events in the Middle East, and the use of the Crusades in popular culture, as demonstrated by their use in movies. Prerequisite: Foundations in Writing Course, FWC, NWC
