Survey of the healing traditions of the ancient Mediterranean world. Critical reading of medical literature by Hippocrates and other significant authors from Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Topics may include: theories about anatomy and physiology, the relationship between medicine and religion, the social status of doctors, and beliefs about women's bodies.
