HIS 325 Women in Antiquity
Survey of the healing traditions of the ancient Mediterranean world. Critical reading of medical literature by Hippocrates and other significant authors from Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Topics may include: theories about anatomy and physiology, the relationship between medicine and religion, the social status of doctors, and beliefs about women's bodies. Prerequisite: Foundations in Writing course and any 200-level course. FWC, WS, WI
