DNC 231 Contemporary Dance Practices I

Students will establish a sound physical and creative dance practice, rooted in contemporary approaches, including aspects of Somatics, Modern, Jazz, Ballet, and Improvisation, with an emphasis on competency in effective/efficient body mechanics, balanced strength and flexibility, clarity of spatial access, rhythmic play and integration, qualitative dynamics, expressive intentionality, and pattern recognition/memorization. Prerequisite: DNC 152 OR Permission of the instructor. ART
