Environmental Studies

Wilson College’s Environmental Studies major is an interdisciplinary program for students passionate about understanding the natural world and creating positive change. With a strong foundation in the natural sciences, students gain hands-on experience through fieldwork, labs, and community-based projects. The program integrates scientific, social, and ethical perspectives, allowing students to tailor their studies to career goals while building practical skills for work in research, conservation, education, and public service.

Students completing courses in environmental studies will:

• Apply foundational principles of the natural sciences to analyze environmental systems, interpret data, and evaluate evidence-based solutions.
• Integrate scientific, social, and ethical perspectives to develop holistic approaches to environmental issues.
• Communicate environmental concepts and research findings clearly and effectively.
• Use field, laboratory, and community-based experiences to develop practical skills and professional competencies relevant to career goals.
