NUR 113 Health Promotion and Wellness
The purpose of this course is to provide students the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to support patients in promoting their own health and preventing disease as they strive to reach their optimal state of wellness. Emphasis is placed on motivational theory to facilitate behavior change in relation to minimizing stress, maintaining a healthy weight and level of activity, and establishing healthy sleep patterns. Wellness for the student and practicing nurse are emphasized as a means of minimizing burnout and compassion fatigue. Prerequisite: NUR 101 (2 sem. hrs.)
