HIS 308 Civil War & Society

A social history of the American Civil War. The focus is on the experiences of everyday Americans in this most terrible of conflicts. War as a "gendering activity" will also be explored. Particular attention will be given to the impact of the war on women, African- Americans and the common soldier. Prerequisite: HIS 124. HWC, WI
