DNC 240 Dance in the American Musical
Dance and the American Musical is an interdisciplinary course investigating the role dance plays in informing social trends in the 20th Century. We will look at the role of dance in acclaimed musical films, theorizing how dance symbolizes aspects of American life and culture. We will explore how dance challenges social and cultural issues of power, class, gender, sexual orientation and age, and acts as a mirror to society. Prerequisite: Foundations in English Course.
